Flights – check!
We finally had the chance to meet with our travel agent and book some flights – hooray. Two hours later we were the proud owners of a basic itinerary. Enough flights to get us out of Australia, into one continent; out of it and into the next. There are big gaps of time and space in the middle for flexibility and to take advantage of cheap airfares in Asia, in particular.
The thought of freedom and being ‘free agents’ is extremely appealing after years of scheduling and to-do-lists. Now that we have flights, travel insurance and a family youth hostel membership I feel like we could leave the country tomorrow and wing it! A bit more thought is obviously required to make it happen smoothly. As we count down the days it is really starting to become do-able.
